At the end of season 9 of “Sister Wives”, fans were unsure as to why polygamist Kody Brown adopted the 3 children of his fourth wife, Robyn.

It seems that David Preston Jessop, Robyn Brown’s ex-husband, was a rather absent father.

“He didn’t see his children by choice”, said Robyn. “I’m not making children choose anything. I can’t control whether or not my ex chooses to spend time with them. ”

“Those 3 amazing kids haven’t seen their biological father in the last two years”, Meri Brown said. “Kody is their father in everything they do.”

“Kody has been a father to Dayton, Aurora and Breanna in every way. They even call themselves “Browns” informally.”

Robyn Brown divorced David in 2007, alleging abuse by her ex-husband. Three years later, in 2010, she married Kody Brown.
